Changes to Journalism

Well, this is a very complicated issue for me because I have never been very interested or motivated with the career. It seems to me that there are many things to change and that ends up demotivating me. The main thing is the length of the career, for me it is too long. In other countries where journalism is usually better, the career lasts a maximum of three years and here in Chile it lasts FIVE YEARS. There are many subjects that are shared with the film career that in my opinion do not contribute to my training as a professional. And it seems to me that they do this as an excuse to join both careers in a single faculty.

There are also things that I like. For example, the approach of the career that allows you to develop as a critical person in the face of social reasons. It also prepares you to be a journalist for written media and not for television. You can write essays or notes for newspapers.

In terms of infrastructure, I think it's enough. Obviously it could be better. We have a television room that is adequate but it is not the best. The same goes for the radio room. They are good but with a little more money they could be much better. The faculty computers work and thank goodness they were recently replaced.

In conclusion, there are many things to improve but many of the things mentioned here are very difficult to fix. I hope that in the next few years this can change and we can achieve better professional journalists.

  2. You raise valid points about the program's duration, especially in comparison to other countries, and the shared courses with the film program, which may seem unnecessary i think all thought that.

  3. It is incredible that it lasts 5 years. Definitely not necessary
